Fenerbahce remains a contender in the Turkish league this season. Recently, in the 25th round of the Super Liga, the team led by Jose Mourinho played to a goalless draw against Galatasaray. During this match, the Portuguese coach’s unsportsmanlike behavior came into focus.
According to ElPais.com, Mourinho has been fined by the Turkish Football Federation due to his unsporting conduct during the derby. The fine is reported to be around 42,500 euros.
It has also been reported that the Portuguese coach has been handed a four-match ban. This suspension is partly for making racist remarks, where Mourinho allegedly commented that Galatasaray substitutes and coaches were “jumping like monkeys.” The additional matches of his suspension are due to derogatory remarks directed at the fourth official, Slavko Vincic.
Moving forward, Fenerbahce has another game on Sunday, where they will face Antalyaspor in the 26th round. Sebastian Szymański and the team are aiming for their 19th win of the season. Fenerbahce is also looking to extend their unbeaten streak, which has lasted since December 15 of the previous year. Since then, the team has secured twelve wins and five draws.
